Abortion is NEVER the Answer
Despite what the mainstream media says, abortion is not a simple medical procedure. An abortion is the violent ending of a pregnancy. This article is not to discuss the intricacies of what and how an abortion takes place, I’ll save that for another time, but most assuredly, an abortion is not a beautiful, celebratory thing.
The Lie From Hell
Probably one of the most pervasive and deceptive lies that is told about abortion is this, “Abortion is medically necessary if the mother’s life is in danger.” This cunning deceit is so clever that even those who are wholly against abortion will recite this so as to seem more moderate. This mantra-esque saying has delved itself deep into our culture’s soul that to even suggest that abortion isn’t the answer in a life-threatening pregnancy is as least taboo, and at most insane. They use this edge case (that doesn’t even exist) to push abortion at all stages of development for any reason.
I’d like to prove the truth and provide an alternative outlook for those of us who are vehemently against abortion.
What Do The Numbers Say?
There is a point to bring up when people say, “Abortion is a medically necessary and life-saving procedure”. The first rebuttal to this is to help people understand the rarity of a situation like this. Only roughly 1.5% of all pregnancies this year will require severe emergency services, roughly 50,000-60,000 out of 3.7 million births. While this number may seem high, of these, roughly 45,000 of these emergency services are blood transfusions. This leaves anywhere from 5000-15000 cases where there are severe emergency services not including blood transfusions.
This link, Severe Maternal Morbidity in the United States: A Primer: Exhibit 4 - Infogram, shows the number of severe procedures in 10,000. Notice how blood transfusions, hysterectomies, and ventilations are the most common and that abortions are not anywhere on this list.
The article below is a phenomenal resource to view exactly what I’m talking about. I would recommend reading through this to understand the true procedures that are undertaken when a woman’s life is endangered in pregnancy. This link is also the source for the above numbers.

But What About Ectopic Pregnancies?
Of course, we have not covered ectopic pregnancies. This is probably the most confusing aspect of the pro-life/abolitionist stance.
Our side does not downplay the dangers of ectopic pregnancies, and in fact Knitted & Known supports PreBorn!, who has an informative article on ectopic pregnancies found here:
https://preborn.com/ectopic-pregnancies-what-you-need-to-know/
The pro-life position is that ectopic pregnancies ARE medically necessary to treat, as they are both unviable and a threat to the mother.
To summarize the article, there are two procedures that are often employed: salpingostomy and salpingectomy.
In a salpingostomy, the ectopic pregnancy is removed, and the tube is left to heal on its own.
However, a salpingectomy is used when both the ectopic pregnancy and tube are needed to be removed. Often this sort of abdominal surgery is a more invasive procedure that involves making a larger incision in the abdomen. This surgery is often used when the ectopic pregnancy is found later and the pregnancy has ruptured.
While ectopic pregnancies are sad and a tragedy and a loss of human life, the procedures to remove them are necessary and lifesaving. These procedures are MARKEDLY different from an abortion, which is elective, violent, and wholly destructive. States with abortion restrictions actually do not even prohibit ectopic pregnancy treatments and anyone stating otherwise is lying and trying to push the pro-abortion agenda.
Conclusion
Abortion is never a medically necessary treatment for a pregnancy, whether an unforeseen emergency or in the case of ectopic pregnancies. The cult of death surrounding the unborn will lie and deceive to reach its end, child sacrifice, and they will claim any falsehood to maintain this murderous sacrament. This is a spiritual fight, one that must be fought with truth and light and love and with everything that we can muster, our little ones depend on it.
